The course is designed for students preparing for graduate school, aiming to provide a foundation for effective written and oral academic communication. Topics covered include features of academic writing, essay development, paraphrasing, summarizing, and oral presentation skills. Through in-class exercises, students will apply their knowledge to compose various study-related genres such as CVs, Resumes, Personal Statements, SOPs, and Cover Letters. Moreover, the course aims to equip students with teamwork skills and enhance their proficiency in delivering oral presentations within academic settings. 

課程目標
By the end of the course, students should be able to
1. Evaluate and analyze a variety of texts for academic purposes
2. Demonstrate familiarity with the vocabulary and grammar used in academic writing
3. Construct an effective academic profile or a professional bio
4. Develop teamwork and oral presentation skills needed for their academic careers 
課程要求
1. No more than three excused absences are permitted.
2. Active participation in class discussions is required.
3. No make-up exam will be allowed.
4. Late assignments will not be accepted.
5. No plagiarism. A grade of “0” may be earned for plagiarism or other forms of dishonesty.
